Question 'Limp mode' on the Buick Encore??

Hi there!

I am the owner of a Buick Encore 2013 model and am wondering if anyone else has had the problem of the vehicle going into 'limp mode' where the car shuts down and there is no engine power available? This has happened twice to me in 2 weeks and I am now questioning how safe I am in the vehicle and if it is really reliable? Please share your comments as I am wondering if there are others out there that have experienced this. Thanks kindly, TJ

I wouldn't even bother posting this on a forum, instead i'd be at the dealer. Make sure they give you a nice loaner car

yea we aren't going to be able to fix the problem

it usually goes into limp mode because the computer deems the car unsafe. usually something wrong with the engine.

In a case like that there's likely no way you can restart the system, i bet it needs some computer reading tool to fix it.

Good question, if it throws a light, that is a good area to start

Isn't that the same description of the huge problem that GM is dealing with right now. Engine shuts off and air bags won't deploy if you crash. You should definitely take it to a dealer.

Good point, it sure does sound inline with the issues announced in the recall.
