Suprisingly no, the wife and I had test drove an encore earlier in the year we were happy with stated MPG and the car performed okay but that was just around town, no long inclines or load to actually check performance. The rental was a real world test drive and we liked it. It's not a hot rod by any means but as I said we had no problem driving the mountain roads with pep to spare....Mike

I wonder what people who have taken it up inclines have to say about that.

The incline heading north on Interstate 5 out of LA as well as northern California and into Oregon are more than enough to test the capabilities of any vehicle for hill climbing power as stated 4 adults and luggage we had gas peddle left to use and we were going with the faster flow of traffic. nice!
that sounds like quite the load for a vehicle like this, good to see there's nothing negative to report back

Hello everyone I own a 2015 encore leather edition. I average around 26 mpg. My driving is a 70% city 30% highway mix. Typically it is just me in the car. I have the Awd version. My encore has 35k miles on it and I bought it last year for school. The area around me it fairly flat. Last I am typically an aggressive driver. Hope this helps.

Old post, not much action here. My 2019 bought late last year gets around 28 mixed driving. It is AWD version with start/stop. I drive conservatively.

2019 Encore Preferred FWD, around 70% city driving average 26.4MPG with only me. That is about 1 MPG better than our main car, a 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport Ultimate 2.0L Turbo FWD, around 70% highway driving.
