This is pretty cool technology. I don't understand how the sensors differentiate between the wanted noises and the unwanted noises. What if you are listening to some industrial techno, or your kid i splaying with a rattle? Those things seem pretty mechanical, but I bet they wouldn't be cancelled out.

It's a great feature that I am happy to have in the Encore.

Glad to see they just didn't stop with quiet interior tech but also did up the audio system quality. They lack in other area's that need to be perfected by a luxury car maker, so at least they make up for it here. Can't wait to see whats next.

its the same tech that headphones and your smart phone uses for noise cancellation.

Doesn't buick include an acoustic windshield in it's vehicles to cut down on wind noise to help make the cabin quiet? Somewhere I heard that. If they don't, it would be a good idea to look into it.

point is that even for such a small car the Encore is very quiet on the inside.

It's also a nice touch for a Buick. Buick needs to think carefully about what type of luxury features they include in their vehicles. They can't get too nice or they will encroach on Cadillac. This is the perfect type of luxury feature for Buick though. More ride comfort but nothing crazy.

Why would they have to worry about taking away from Cadillac

Better for Buick in my opinion.

Well, Buick and Cadillac are both owned by GM, so they don't really want to step on each other's toes.

It is important that Buick doesn't get too luxurious is all I am saying. It raises the price too much for a Buick. Buick always needs to make sure that it stays nicer than Chevy but more affordable than Cadillac. It is a tough balance.

Buick getting too luxurious could definitely be a problem as they'll just kill themselves.
They won't be able to compete with the cars in that higher priced range since they offer so much more.
