AutoGuide Thinks the Buick Encore is Out of Its League

AutoGuide recently wrote a second review of the Buick Encore, and it did pretty well, but in the end it was seen as offering too little for the price point that it comes in at.

AutoGuide drove a $29,210 version of the Encore that had the leather Package and the moon roof option equipped. So its not exactly cheap, but it also isn't going to break the bank.

Quote:
For a vehicle flirting within the luxury car segment, some features are oddly omitted. There is no smart key entry, push button start or built-in navigation. Then again, the latter can be had as a $795 stand-alone option.
The Encore is super small. This can be seen as both a positive and a negative. I mean if you want a big car, than the Encore is definitely not the car for you.

Quote:
It gives up eight inches to the BMW X1 and is even smaller than the Kia Rio sedan. However, at a height of 65.2 inches, the Encore is just as tall as the Audi Q5. This short length, high height may lead to ungainly proportions, but it also offers a high seating position in a vehicle that requires almost no space to park.
One thing that AutoGuide points out particularly is the abundance of blind spots. The two back pillars are hard to see around, and though the blind spot detection makes up for this a bit, it is still an annoyance.

The overall verdict?

The good: Interior design, maneuverability, ride comfort
The bad" sight lines, styling, price, cargo space

Overall Amanda is impressed with the Buicks attempt to create a subcompact crossover with luxury features – except for the price. Thinking this vehicle listed in the low-to-mid $20,000s, she was shocked to hear as equipped it costs nearly $30,000. At that price, issues with the vehicles bad blind spots, equipment omissions, exterior design and some usability issues would prevent her purchasing one. To her, the Encore’s platform mate, the Chevrolet Trax, makes much more sense.

With a vehicle like this, it's probably best that Buick offers as much value as they can, it just makes sense since this really targets families.
