The Big One: Buick Flagship

German mag AutoBild produced a render of what they expect the flagship OPEL Insignia to look like, guess who approved? None other than OPEL/Vauxhall CEO Dr. Karl Thomas Neumann who tweeted the pic and asked what the public thought. Now you have to assume the good Doctor would not solicit public opinions unless the renders were partially accurate

OPEL and Buick are quickly being unified, sharing everything but a badge and based on what Mark Reuss said not so long ago about Buick getting an OPEL based flagship that should be a prettier Panamera....

well....

Volkswagen made a good attempt with a budget version of a 4 door with this idea behind it.
I think Buick and Opel/Vauxhall should go through with it.

It will either be a hit and have a major positive impact on the brand or be a flop and end up costing them, a costly learning experience.

Back end looks a bit long on the second rendering but the first rendering looks really nice. I could get excited about this. It will be weird where the Buick flagship slots in price and segment wise though. What will they price it at? If it gets priced high it will start competing with true luxury cars, and I don't think Buick/Opel wants to do that.

I find that the front of the car doesn't really match with the rear.

The rear is a bit too bulbous - if you know what I mean.

The front is nice and aggressive

Lets see if Buick ever makes anything of this. It'll be expensive and it'll be more interesting to see how they power it and how fast it'll be.

AT times I wish it was more squared like a Mercedes GLK but they do have to keep it unique to Buick and not looking like some copy cat, which would be bad for them. There's just nothing like the Encore on the road.

Did some digging and the actual Opel version of this car houses a similar drivetrain to the VOLT.
Not much of a super car / flagship.
